Are you an experienced Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) looking for your next challenge?

We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our Surgical Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) Unit, where you’ll play a key role in delivering high-quality, patient-centred care within a fast-paced and innovative environment.

In this role, you will work autonomously to assess, diagnose, and manage patients within your scope of practice, ensuring that all clinical decisions are evidence-based and aligned with current guidelines. You will collaborate closely with the senior team, providing expert clinical leadership and supporting the ongoing development of the SDEC service.

Your advanced skills, sound clinical judgement, and ability to work independently will be pivotal in ensuring timely and effective care, helping to reduce admissions and improve patient outcomes.

Main duties of the job

The role of the Surgical Nurse Practitioner is to;

Be primarily based in the surgical same day emergency department as part of the surgical workforce.

Use physical assessment skills to contribute to a patient’s diagnosis on emergency presentation to the department.

Order relevant investigations to assist with the diagnosis of the patients presenting condition and review the results.

Provide support, information and advice to patients, carers and other members of the multidisciplinary team throughout the patient’s surgical journey.

Review patients in a wide range of clinical conditions, either diagnose and treat, or escalate where appropriate.

Use clinical knowledge to independently assess, diagnose, plan, implement and evaluate treatments and interventions for surgical patients in various settings frequently with complex undifferentiated or undefined presentations.
