Job overview

We are offering an exciting opportunity to join St Andrew;s Centre for Burns & Plastic Surgery at Broomfield Hospital in the role of Clinical Therapy Lead for Respiratory, Surgery and Orthopedics on a 3 year fixed term contract.  This post will be offered as a job share and is a pivotal role in shaping therapy services across a complex, high-acuity division.

You’ll be joining a compassionate and high-performing team, working in close partnership with divisional leaders, the MSE Clinical Director for Therapy, General Manager for Therapy, and senior multi-disciplinary colleagues.

We are seeking a motivated and committed physiotherapist or occupational therapist with clinical and leadership experience who is keen to further develop the service.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide visible and expert leadership across Hand Therapy, Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy services within the Burns, Plastics and Dermatology division.

  • Hold a small but complex clinical caseload, ensuring the continued delivery of expert patient-centred care.

  • Support and co-lead the management of the therapy team, overseeing staffing, development, service standards, and resources (including a delegated budget).

  • Drive quality improvement, service development and innovation aligned to Trust priorities and national best practice.

  • Work collaboratively with clinicians, managers, and system partners to ensure integrated, equitable, and safe care.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • To be accountable for improving clinical care standards.
  • To be accountable for infection control for all defined departments/clinical areas used by Therapy Staff.
  • To be accountable for ensuring that departmental areas are compliant with the CQC essential standards of quality and safety.
  • Manage and provide professional leadership to the Burns & Plastics Therapy Staff.
  • Empower senior staff to manage the quality elements for their area.
  • Using evidence based practice/techniques to highlight that the above roles are delivering an increased quality in the delivery of patient care.
  • To be responsible for improving patient’s experience of care and treatment including resolving complaints locally, answering formal complaints and undertaking trust wide initiative to enhance the experience of patients.
  • To take a major role in the advance assessment and treatment of a highly complex caseload of patients within the Burns & Plastics Surgical Unit.
  • Maintain patient safety

Essential criteria
  • HCPC registered Physiotherapist

  • Post graduate qualification in management
  • Post graduate training in clinical specialist area
