We are looking for care practitioners to join our team to work flexibly across our domiciliary care service based in Chelmsford, Calvern Care. 

Successful candidates must have access to a car. 

Main duties of the job

To provide a service that will enable service users to live in their own homes safely and securely whilst following the company policies and procedures as per the staff handbook and at all times observing and respecting service users dignity, privacy and independence as far as practical.

Care Practitioners must be able to communicate successfully with service users in order to understand their needs and requirements. Care workers must also be able to communicate with other stakeholders such as family, friends and other health care professionals.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The service we provide could be complex and could involve a programme of personal care and household management that is personalised for each service user in the form of a care plan. Care duties will therefore include assisting service users in a variety of tasks which are specific to each person and could include some or all of the following;

 

  • Assisting with dressing and undressing / preparing the service user for Day Care or trips out.
  • Assisting with washing / bathing / showering / shaving / grooming / cleaning teeth.
  • Hair care (washing / brushing).
  • Nail care (fingernails only).
  • Toileting and all aspects of personal hygiene.
  • Continence management.
  • Pressure area care
  • Getting into and out of bed.
  • Assisting with the use of Aids to Daily Living / Rehabilitation Aids, as required.
  • Helping with rehabilitation programmes, as prescribed by Healthcare professionals.
  • Sitting care service as required.
  • Healthcare - Prompting the service user to take prescribed medication.
  • Dietary Care.
  • Cooking and preparation of meals and snacks according to the service users likes / dislikes.
  • Assisting with feeding, as required.
  • Domestic / Household Services:
  • General cleaning duties.
  • Bed-making.
  • Emptying bins.
  • Laundering / Ironing
  • Preparation of shopping lists & shopping.
  • Working with other care professionals.
  • Using manual handling equipment when and as instructed.
  • Care at end of life
