Job overview
We are looking for a Senior Assistant Technical Officer to assist with the adult hearing aid service, the assessment of children's hearing and administrative support of the Hearing Services Team. The post is based at the Primary Care Centre Colchester, with travel to other clinical sites including Clacton Hospital and Harwich Hospital.
Please note, this is a permanent part time post at 33.75 hours per week.
You should have experience of working with young children and adults, have an interest in helping people who have hearing problems and an awareness of the difficulties they may encounter.
Training and support will be given to ensure that the successful candidate is able to deliver in this role.
If you have a flexible approach, good communication skills and are a team player, than this could be the role for you.
Main duties of the job
· Responsible for the provision of routine hearing aid maintenance and repair clinic.
· Responsible for the provision of postal repair service.
· Responsible for instructing patients on use of hearing aids as part of the hearing aid fitting service.
· Taking ear mould impressions for new and existing hearing aid users.

- Any other relevant qualifications at GCSE level or equivalent
Experience
Essential criteria
- Previous work with the general public which has developed an awareness of good customer care.
- To have experience of working methodically and carefully to produce consistently accurate results.
- Experience of working with data bases and recording accurate information on patient management systems or equivalent
Skills
Essential criteria
- To be sufficiently dexterous to manipulate small hearing aid components when maintaining hearing aids.
- To be able to provide quality work and communicate with a wide range of people.
- Ability to prioritize workload and maintain a professional manner in a high-pressure working environment
Desirable criteria
- Car owner/driver with a clean licence
