Job overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our Biochemistry Laboratory as Associate Practitioner, Band 4.
Your role will involve supporting the Biomedical Scientists working in the Biochemistry Laboratory.
Based at Colchester Hospital, our vision is to deliver innovations, high-performing pathology services that is focussed on our customers and delivers high quality and fully compliant services.

We are committed to attracting, developing and retaining the best pathology staff. We encourage our staff to undertake internal and external courses to aid their development. You will play an integral part in helping to train our junior staff to develop their skills and careers.
The Biochemistry Department has Cobas 8000 (C701/E801), P612 and NORTHSTAR Bio-UV analysers.
Main duties of the job
- Performs a number of healthcare science clinical/technical/scientific activities under supervision, e.g. performs standard haematological tests.
- Maintains clinical records in relation to activities carried out; may input/interrogate test results of others.
- May be required to supervise, organise and allocate work and/or train less experienced staff in own area.
- To work flexibly in reflection of service needs which may include an extended working day and/or participation in delivery of a 24 hour, 7 days per week service.
- Maintain and promote professional image of the pathology department.
