Job overview
The NEE Respiratory service provide care to patients from our clinics, Pulmonary rehab classes and in their own homes.
We are looking for an associate practitioner to join us as a fixed term post until 31/3/26. This will mainly focus on the provision of Pulmonary rehabilitation within the service, but with some requirement to support with COPD and respiratory physio appointments.
The role will be to support assessment tasks, advice and signposting, and exercise classes, mainly focusing on Pulmonary rehabilitation.
You will also support data entry to the national audit programme.
Work with colleagues across health, social care, education, mental health and voluntary sector to ensure holistic and joined up delivery of care.
Empower patients to make decisions about their own care and encourage them to exercise their rights and choices, signposting them to relevant community and voluntary services and supporting patients carers and assistants with management of risk.
This is a Fixed Term/Secondment until 31st March 2025.

Main duties of the job
- To assist the registered staff in the delivery of patient care, maximizing the cost-effective use of professional time, both clinically and non-clinically
- To assess patients, provide programme of advice and rehabilitation activities to patients with acute or chronic needs within the competency framework developed by the Physiotherapist or Nurse.
- To organise and run exercise classes in the community and on virtual platforms with the registered staff, maintaining high professional standards.
- Able to work independently without direct supervision, but under instruction from the qualified staff, reporting back patient progress and informing the qualified clinicians of any problems.
- To independently progress treatments of delegated patients with access to guidance and determine when the patients have met their discharge criteria.
- To participate in audit and data collection including coordinating the uploading of data to the national audit portal.
- To keep accurate and up to date records as per departmental guidelines including patient records, meeting records and service documents.
- To carry out related administrative and housekeeping duties as delegated within the service.
- To assist in stock management and report faulty equipment to engineers as per department’s policy.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Good standard of Education, at least five GCSE’s including English and Maths at grade C
- Support Workers Access Course/NVQ Level III/Level 1 or equivalent experience
- HND/ Foundation Degree in sports/exercise therapy or working towards.
Desirable criteria
- Assistant member of professional body CSP
Experience
Essential criteria
- Working in fitness industry / rehabilitation setting or healthcare
- Working in teams
- Experience of community and hospital work.
Desirable criteria
- Experience of respiratory work as an assistant.
Knowledge

- Knowledge of respiratory conditions
