Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for enthusiastic Housekeepers to join our wards across Colchester General Hospital. We welcome applications from passionate individuals with or without prior healthcare experience who are eager to build a career in the NHS and provide a quality service on our wards. 

You will be highly motivated, enthusiastic, reliable and adaptable.

Applicants who we deem suitable will be invited to attend our assessment day which will take place at Colchester Hospital and is designed to give you an insight into the role of a Housekeeper.

Interviews will take place on the day so you could walk away with an offer!

Main duties of the job

  • To work as an integral part of the team ensuring a high quality service to patients.
  • To be responsible for the co-ordination of all patient facilities in the ward area ensuring a clean, safe and comfortable environment. Other tasks may include those to meet individual patient’s needs as determined by the Ward Sister and to liaise with support services departments.
  • To assist the Ward Sister to ensure the appropriate and effective delivery of facilities services in order to properly maintain the patient environment.
  • The post holder will have the responsibility for maintaining high standards of cleanliness of clinical ward equipment specified and the cleanliness of areas where the equipment is stored and those areas that fall outside of the Sodexo contract.
