Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic person to join our Harm Free Care Team as a Harm Free Care Practitioner.

This is a new role to ESNEFT, and the successful candidate will support with the running of the Fit Testing Service and work the Harm Free Care Team with to support patients and clinical teams with falls prevention, Tissue viability and continence care management.

You will carry out Fit Testing clinics across ESNEFT sites, in clinic settings and in ward/department settings. This is an exciting opportunity to help set up the service with the corporate nursing team.

You will also carry out follow up visits, education and audits for all areas of Harm Free Care to ensure patients have the correct equipment and care in place. This is an exciting opportunity to support with the prevention of harm to patients from falls, pressure ulcers and continence related concerns.

 

Main duties of the job

·       To support the Harm Free Care Team to ensure care for patient following specialist input is in place. This includes ensuring their physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs are met

·       To perform and accurately record clinical documentation and observations as required and report changes to the Ward staff and Harm Free Care Team

·       To be responsible for ensuring own infection control practice is in line with Trust Infection Control policies, including approved hand-washing technique.

·       To challenge those not following recognise infection control procedures when witnessed.

·       To ensure that all communication and care provision maintains the dignity and respect of all patients and their carers/relatives

·       To communicate effectively with patients, carers, visitors and other staff members at all times

·       To answer the telephone appropriately and refer callers onto the appropriate member of staff as necessary

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Qualified Associate Practitioner/ Nursing Associate diploma level or equivalent qualification e.g. NVQ3
  • Willingness to undertake accredited Face Fit Test Certification
  • Evidence of continuing professional development.
Desirable criteria
  • Foundation degree
  • Accredited Face Fit Test Certificate

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Recently worked within a healthcare setting.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of acute setting
  • Previous experience of Face Fit Testing using both qualitative and quantitative methods
