Job overview

An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced band 5 nurse to join our motivated Neonatal Unit.

We are looking for a confident and professional registered nurse to join our multidisciplinary team providing special, high dependency and intensive care services to new-borns based at Colchester Hospital. 

You will join a close and supportive team of dedicated professionals striving towards the optimum in patient care and the values of our Trust. This role will allow for the continued development of your own specialised skills, with opportunities for further training and career progression, as well as the chance to nurture the next generation of healthcare professionals.

 

Main duties of the job

  • To provide high quality, individualised nursing care to babies and their parents/carers through working as an effective member of the inter-disciplinary team
  • Responsible for the assessment of care needs, implementation and evaluation and performing all relevant forms of care with or without direct supervision as appropriate
  • To demonstrate procedures to new staff, junior staff and students
  • To have an awareness of safeguarding children issues and appropriate reporting procedures
  • Responsible for maintaining professional knowledge and skills thereby making an effective contribution to the standards of the ward team in accordance with the departmental philosophies
  • To participate in 24-hour rotational duties
  • Lead a nursery as delegated by the shift leader
