Are you an experienced Clinical Pharmacist looking for a career change or your next challenge in an acute hospital trust?
We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Clinical Pharmacist to join our modern purpose-built facilities to help the department deliver on its proactive Education and Training agenda.
You will be based at Colchester Hospital, separating time to provide clinical pharmacy activity at ward level and all required Education and Training aspects of the job description. Cross-site collaboration with Ipswich pharmacy colleagues is essential to ensure consistency of practice and a uniform approach to the development of our staff.
Our friendly pharmacy team are dedicated to nurturing, mentoring and developing our staff to reach their full potential. As well as direct one-to-one training, the department provides pharmacy forums, clinical huddles and other educational activity. We support personal development plans, smart objective setting and opportunities for study.
ESNEFT is about to embark on a full, site wide implementation of the EPIC electronic patient record which includes electronic prescribing and administration and pharmacy stock control system replacement.
In addition to our fully automated dispensaries, we host one of the NHS Specialist Pharmacy Service medicines advice sites and the Regional Pharmacy Manufacturing Unit (including a brand new Aseptic facility).

Main duties of the job
Lead on all education and training activities on the Colchester site and any other relevant cross-site education and training activities within the Pharmacy department at ESNEFT.
Develop, deliver and maintain locally-based education and training schemes for all grades of pharmacist and clinical pharmacy technician staff.
Take the lead on the ongoing mentoring and coaching of junior pharmacists and student pharmacists throughout their Clinical Diploma and Foundation Trainee studies.
Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to ensure the optimal and cost effective use of medicines at ward level; minimising drug wastage accordingly.
Provide an advanced level clinical pharmacy service at ward level in line with the pharmacy Key Performance Indicators and agreed clinical standards.

Essential criteria
- Previous extensive hospital experience inclusive of Clinical Pharmacy practice
- Demonstrated experience of multi-disciplinary working
- Handling of high risk medicines
- Previous experience of educating and training other staff
Desirable criteria
- Previous experience of mentoring Clinical Diploma and Foundation Trainee Pharmacy students
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- GPhC Registered
- Masters Degree plus Pre-registration training
- Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy Practice or clinical equivalent
Desirable criteria
- Non-Medical Prescribing qualification
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Computer Literacy
- Medicines Management
- Good knowledge of Education and Training tools and processes
- Good all-round clinical knowledge in other areas and practical skills
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of the issues relevant to the local and national Non-Medical Prescribing agenda
