Job overview

Base of work can be either Clough Road in Colchester or Pride House in Basildon.

 

The post holder will manage all aspects of Water Safety, Water Prevention & Building Management Programmes, Water Safety Training of staff (to all levels and grades) and be responsible for providing specialist complex advice in relation to Water Safety Legislation, Estate Policy and Standard Operating Practice, Places of Work (Water Precautions), L8 Approved Code of Practice both within the Trust and for other clients bodies.

Main duties of the job

Act as the Trust specialist for all Water Safety matters and contribute to the development of Trust Water Strategy and implementation of effective processes and systems :-

 

·       Being appointed, via relevant qualification, invitation and acceptance, Trust Responsible person for Water outlined in HTM04-01.

·       Guided by building, H&S regulations, responsible for water engineering maintenance.

·       Exchanges maintenance, technical project-related information with specialists, non-specialists; negotiates with water contractors.

·       Lead on the appointment, via relevant qualification, invitation and acceptance, Trust Authorised Engineer for Water outlined in HTM04-01.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

·       Carry out an annual audit with Trusts appointed water Authorised Engineer of water assets on Zetasafe to ensure Trust compliance.

·       To facilitate appropriate works identified for completion from water management via the Trusts Backlog Maintenance Programme.

·       Provide technical advice regarding water systems within Estates & Facilities and the wider Trust.

·       Ensure appropriate maintenance arrangements are in place for water systems across the Trust.

·       Manage water risk assessment programmes when identified including remedial programme.

·       Work closely with the Lead within NHS Property Services and PFI Organisations regarding water safety (report and recommendations) where EPUT occupy.

·       Report all water issues on Datix and inform Head of Compliance and Estates where appropriate.

·       Organise and attend water management programmes within buildings, where appropriate.

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Masters level or equivalent in water engineering discipline with extensive experience working within a health setting.
  • In-depth knowledge of UK water regulations, including Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations 1999, Health & Safety at Work Act, and Approved Code of Practice L8 (Legionella Control).
Desirable criteria
  • Additional Authorised Persons qualifications.

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • At least three years’ experience within Estates Department.
  • Good working knowledge in building water services including systems management

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Literate in IT/Computer Skills including CAD.
Desirable criteria
  • Evaluate Zetasafe and compliance systems in line with Trust demands.
