Infection Prevention and Control Specialist Support Worker

This job is an opportunity to develop in the role of becoming a specialist in matters relating to the prevention and control of infections for the safety of patient, staff and service users across the Provide services.  The  post holder will work as  part of the  infection Prevention and Control team  within the Quality and safety directorate, supporting the provision  of a comprehensive infection prevention service for both health and adult social care services ensuring best practice with audit programmes, surveillance systems and education and training. As part of the IPC team the post holder will act as a IPC role model with high visibility across various different services and support and challenge teams at all levels to ensure compliance with policy and procedures and requirements under the Health and Social Care Act 2025 and CQC Outcome: 8 (regulation 12 safe care and treatment)  Cleanliness and infection Control.

Main duties of the job

The duties of the post will include developing specialist knowledge of Infection prevention in which to support and improve the management and quality of practice by the delivery of national directives and develop local quality, patient safety and safe systems of working. The post holder will be required to be effective communicator working with all grades of staff advising on IPC matters and develop communication that of IPC specialist in which to support and deliver IPC education and  training. The role will require use of relevant IT equipment and software to assist in development of audit tools and  undertake audit and surveillance in which to identify any risk to IPC safety.  The role involves visiting and working across a variety of settings and services to advise on IPC   and ensure that evidence based practice meets the needs of the different service user groups, in particular some services this may require clarification and explanation of microbiological results and implications on management of patient or service user.  To assist with IPC practice the post holder will contribute and develop  guidance/education resources and support the link practitioner Infection prevention and Control programme.
