Job overview
To liaise with a range of external partners including Primary Care and NHS colleagues statutory and non -statutory services to advise on health improvement programmes that lead to a reduction in health inequalities.The skills required will be persuading, negotiating and influencing to make an impact to the public health agenda for Smoking, ultimately improving smoking referral numbers into EWS and supporting the Government plan to be smoke free by 2030
Main duties of the job
- To lead with scoping of new service areas and taking a lead role in implementing new tobacco related services to increase opportunities for people to access tobacco dependence support/treatment
- Increase their knowledge on EWS subjects such as smoking, weight management, living independently and social isolation and support partnership working and system integration.
- Act as the key contact for questions and providing expert support on vaping and vaping products and other smoking aids
- To lead the wider workforce development to access Very Brief Advice (VBA) training in Essex
- To take a lead role in implementing the National Swap to Stop (S2S) service
- Act as a key contact for questions, escalation issues and trouble shooting
- Assisting partners in understanding and utilizing complex public health and wellbeing data
- Monitor the functioning of partners within the pathway and support development innovate solution to improve on delivery
- Evaluate any new ways of working with specialist partners.
- Produces Reports for KPIs and referral data

Qualification and Education
Essential criteria
- Health Improvement relevant qualification/experience
- Relevant practical experience in health improvement equivalent to degree level.
- Making Every Contact Count training or willingness to undertake it
- GCSE English
- GCSCE Maths
- IT Excel proficient
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of commitment to CPD
- Level 2 NCSCT Smoking Cessation Training
- Level 1 NCSCT Very Brief Advice Training
- Level 1 NCSCT Mental health Training
- Power Point Presentation skills
Work related knowledge and experience
Essential criteria
- Relevant knowledge of health improvement/ public health underpinned by theory
- Clear understanding of behaviour change theory
- Experience of setting up care pathways with partner organisations
- Clear and demonstrable understanding health inequalities
- Clear and demonstrable understanding of target area’s: MSOA, Routine and Manual, pregnancy, BME and other vulnerable groups, Mental Heath
- Clear understanding of the health and social care system
Desirable criteria
- At least 3 years’ experience working in public health or health improvement
- Experience of managing people
Skills and Aptitudes
Essential criteria
- Group facilitation skills
- Ability to plan and organise complex activities or programmes of care
- Ability to analyse public health data and the effectiveness of public health initiatives/programmes
- Solution focussed, innovative and willing to work with a hunch-based approach
Personal attributes and circumstances
Essential criteria
- Occasional work on evenings and weekends may be necessary
- Willingness to work throughout all areas covered within Essex
- Car owner/driver or ability to travel independently
