Job overview
We are seeking to recruit a well organised, dedicated and committed Tobacco Dependency Advisor.
You will deliver and promote the inpatient Tobacco Treatment Service across all wards and departments of the hospital, working collaboratively with clinical ward staff, putting our patients at the heart of the Service.
You will be regularly working in demanding clinical environment and dealing face- to- face with vulnerable patients, many with complicated clinical needs.
Successful candidate will work unsupervised for the major of the time but will be supported by the Health Inequalities Team as required; consequently, you should have the ability to work in a team and independently.
You should have the flexibility to work on Saturdays or Sundays to enable the delivery of a 6-days-a-week service.
This is fixed term/secondment post until 31st March 2026.
Main duties of the job
- To educate and train staff to deliver Very Brief Advice (VBA)
- To deliver the Tobacco Treatment Service to inpatients
- To promote the service, by delivering and taking part in promotional events both in the hospital and at community outreach days.
- Issuing Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) to patients as appropriate.
- Accessing and inputting patient information into databases to support the monitoring of the service Key Performance Indicators.
- Referring patients to stop smoking services/community pathways
- Working as part of a team.
- Flexibility to work across 6 days a week.
