Job overview

2 x Psychological Therapist - 1 vacancy in the Northgate Centre, Colchester and one at Sankey House, Pitsea. 

This is an exciting opportunity for an established role in a growing team, which is currently offering for 2 x Band 7 Psychological Therapists to join our teams in either North or South Essex. 

The Community Adult Eating Disorder Service is a specialist team who offer assessment and treatment to adults with moderate to severe eating disorders. 

Our services operate across the county, with two main office bases, one in Colchester and one in Basildon. Patients are seen in a variety of locations dependent on their level of need. The service works closely with other mental health teams, acute hospitals and GPs, as well as 3rd and voluntary sector organisations.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide a specialist psychological therapy service to adults with eating disorders in community out-patient clinics. The post holder will provide specialist psychological assessment and therapy to those referred to the team.

The post holder will be required to:

·       Assess and treat patients, primarily using CBT-E

·       Work across locality and interagency boundaries to meet the needs of a highly complex client group.

·       Work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team’s policies and procedures.

·       Utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development and research within the area served by the team/service.

·       Offer advice and consultation on clients’ psychological care to non-psychologist/psychotherapist colleagues and to other, non-professional carers.

Education/Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Minimum postgraduate training in a therapy model affording accreditation with a recognised professional body.
  • Registration/Accreditation (or accreditable) with the BABCP

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of continued professional development as recommended by the relevant professional or registering body
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of the theory and practice of specialised psychological therapies in specific difficult to treat groups (i.e. eating disorders).
  • Knowledge of legislation in relation to the client group and mental health speciality.
