Job overview
Applications are welcomed from enthusiastic people, for a Radiotherapy Treatment Planning Dosimetrist position based in our Radiotherapy Planning Section. We have one post available at Colchester Hospital and one at Ipswich Hospital.
A friendly team will support your development in the role. The treatment planning practice is paperless and uses Aria with the Eclipse treatment planning system. The planning team are responsible for creating plans using a range of planning techniques that include SABR, VMAT, IMRT and conformal plans. You will be involved in routine dosimetric tasks and in treatment plan production. ESNEFT has a mix of treatment machines with four TrueBeams, a Halcyon and an Ethos as well as a Bravos and two Orthovoltage units across the two sites.
This post is full time, 37.5 hours per week, however we will consider part time.
Main duties of the job
To perform routine dosimetric tasks and produce patient specific treatment plans and associated dosimetric calculations, in accordance with clinical prescription and agreed procedures for the accurate delivery of radiation therapy.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- B.Sc. Honours Degree in Healthcare Science (Radiotherapy Physics) or equivalent to allow admission onto RCT or B.Sc. Honours Degree in Radiotherapy or equivalent to allow registration onto HCPC
Desirable criteria
- Registered with RCT as a Clinical Technologist or Registered with HCPC as a Therapeutic Radiographer
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience as a student radiographer or a student technologist in Radiotherapy / Radiotherapy Physics
Desirable criteria
- Experience working within a radiotherapy treatment planning team
- Experience of working with the Aria oncology information system and the Eclipse treatment planning system
- Experience of contouring standard anatomy using CT and MR datasets

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
