Job overview

The Occupational Therapy team at the Princess Alexandra Hospital is looking for a motivated and dynamic band 4 assistant practitioner to join the orthopaedic team.

Your role will involve working with patients both pre operatively as well as post operatively on our wards following elective joint replacement surgery and on our fractured neck of femur ward.

This will form part of a job share to join staff member who works 3 days a week to ensure a seamless cover for our patients.

This is a part time post of 15 hours per week over 2 days.

Main duties of the job

  • The post holder will assist in the overall implementation and evaluation of care as part of the Occupational Therapy team. The post holder will deliver clinical care under indirect supervision and guidance from a registered practitioner undertaking delegated tasks within competency boundaries.
  • The post holder will contribute to the assessment, planning implementation and evaluation of programmes of care. The post holder will have the knowledge to interpret information and be skilled in taking appropriate action(s) to achieve the planned outcome. The post holder will contribute to the maintenance of a safe clinical environment.
  • The job holder will actively support the assessment and supervision of trainee or new assistant practitioners, students and clinical support workers. This will include leading and co-ordinating a team of clinical support workers.
  • The job holder will be expected to practice in accordance with PAH NHS Trust policies, guidelines, standards and statutory requirements and operate within defined competency boundaries.
