ESNEFT are seeking a construction project design specialist to join our Estates Strategy team.  We are looking for an individual with project design process management experience but highly competent in construction design with knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems and infrastructure. 

We need someone with drive, enthusiasm, an eye for detail, ingenuity, a passion for compliance and a strong desire to deliver and make a difference. 

Reporting to the Head of Estates Strategy, you would be responsible for the delivery of a diverse portfolio of capital scheme design, working with consultants, internal subject matter experts and other external parties collaboratively shaping design and tender packs so that project delivery meets our Employers Requirements reflecting compliance, our patient need and the needs of our operational and maintenance stakeholders following handover. 

Working as a member of the Estate Strategy Team, the role holder will be responsible for overseeing the technical design of developments and improvements across our Trust’s property portfolio.

You will be responsible for ensuring the provision of a safe, functional, sustainable, and value for money estate providing a great experience for staff, visitors and patients.

You will directly line manage and mentor our Apprentice Project Engineers and technical design team

Main duties of the job

  • Responsible for the formulation of all Capital Development contracts and tender packs for the installation, refurbishment, expansion, and renewal of Trust assets.
  • Inputs into the development and implementation of Estates & Facilities policies, procedures, systems and energy management initiatives.
  • During design, and as part of the MDT meetings, ensure that the designated Project Manager from Capital Delivery is informed and is aware of project specific information.
  • Post design, to ensure that a structured handover from Estates Strategy to Capital Delivery takes place.
  • Be responsible for project design administration, ensuring that projects are designed within agreed financial limits, time, and quality.

Essential criteria
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience
  • Management/leadership qualification or equivalent experience at post graduate level
  • Evidence of continued professional development
  • Further relevant training
Desirable criteria
  • • Relevant Professional Memberships (e.g. MCIBSE, MIET, MIHEEM)
  • • Chartered Status (CEng)

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Proven experience of working in a management/leadership role
  • Experience of managing, leading and motivating a team
  • Leading service changes to improve performance
  • Leading projects
  • Responsible for a budget and budget setting
  • Identifying and interpreting national policy and implementing required changes
