Job overview
We are looking for self-motivated, committed Dietitian to provide a quality dietetic service to the Ipswich and East Suffolk population. You will be a key player within the dietetic team working predominantly in the renal unit.
You will manage a caseload of renal inpatients and outpatients working as the lead Dietitian for the renal unit seeing dialysis, pre dialysis and transplant patients. You would be working as part of the multidisciplinary team in the renal unit as well as being part of the dietetic acute team.
You will also benefit from working with other specialist dietitians as well as being responsible for day to day supervision of assistant practitioners in the team.
A range of skills is required for this post, including excellent communication skills and the ability to manage a busy workload. The post-holder should be someone who enjoys working within a team and is eager to provide support to others.
We would also consider applicants for a Band 5/6 development post depending on experience.
Main duties of the job
The Dietetic Team consists of 26 Dietitians with 6 Dietetic Support Staff providing a service to both acute and community settings and therefore opportunity to work alongside the acute team as well as the community team. We are also supported by secretarial and administrative staff. You will have access to regular supervision and have opportunities to undertake continuing professional development through work shadowing, tutorials and courses as identified by your training needs and objectives.
We are a well- recognised department for student training in partnership with the University of Hertfordshire and you will have an active role in supporting this programme. The trust is also committed with AHP research and has recently gained resource to support this within the trust.

Experience
Essential criteria
- Significant post-registration experience in a range of clinical areas.
- Experience of renal dietetics in outpatient and inpatient setting
- Portfolio of evidence of CPD
- Experience of setting professional standards
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working as a Dietitian on hospital wards including working with patients on enteral nutrition
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Degree / Postgraduate Diploma in Dietetics
- Registration with Health Professions Council
Desirable criteria
- Member of Special Interest Group
- Leadership qualifications e.g. LEO and Supervisory Skills
- Evidence of other post registration education and training e.g. Renal Nutrition Group courses
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Broad up to date knowledge and practical application of clinical dietetics
- Knowledge of issues related to nutrition for patients with renal disease
- Knowledge and understanding of BDA professional standards
- Ability to lead student training within speciality
- Intermediate IT skills e.g. keyboard skills, PowerPoint
Desirable criteria
- Clinical supervisory skills
- Completed audit and research projects

- Excellent organisational skills particularly in terms of caseload management and project management.

- Ability to be flexible, adaptable and reliable
