Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for the position of a full time Activity Co-ordinator at Rawreth Court NHS Care Home in Rayleigh, Essex.  A unique career opportunity to become a key member of the nursing team, you must be enthusiastic, motivated with good communication skills, and the ability to work under pressure.  You must be a team player and willing to go the extra mile for our residents care.   

Main duties of the job

The post holder carries responsibility for planning and delivery for a range of therapeutic activities for older people with Dementia. The successful candidate will work within the Care Home, objectively meeting the needs identified in the residents Care Plan. The post holder will work under the supervision of qualified nurses and occupational therapist, whilst able to work on a regular basis without direct supervision, and maintaining excellent working relationships with the multi-disciplinary team

Here at EPUT we maintain our own bank of specialist staff to ensure that we are able offer safe and effective care at all times.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The post holder will be flexible and able to work shift, allowing a therapeutic meaningful programme of care to be delivered.

The post holder will assist in nursing duties as determined on a shift-to-shift basis by qualified staff when activities are not being undertaken in the home.

The post holder will assist in all aspects of residents’ personal care as required.

The post holder will organise social and recreational functions in the home for residents, relatives and friends, e.g. birthday parties, fundraising events, bingo etc. The post holder will be creative in their approach and discuss their suggestions with senior staff.

Essential criteria
  • NVQ level 3 or previous relevant experience
  • Understanding of the use of activities
  • Experience of working with people with mental health problems

  • Previous experience of working in the NHS
