Main duties of the job
The post involves supporting individual residents in all aspects of their care including daily living needs as is outlined in the residents individualised care plan. The post holder is responsible for reporting any relevant changes in the resident’s condition to the qualified staff. Furthermore the post holder will assist in the physical care and support of people with mental health needs and challenging behaviours, proving person centred care and working within the Recovery Model to enable residents to be become socially inclusive, whilst supporting qualified staff to ensure the highest standards of care are upheld.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The post holder is responsible for undertaking assigned tasks that involve direct resident care in a care home setting.
- Assist and maintaining tidiness, encouraging a welcoming, therapeutic atmosphere, clean environment within the unit
- Responsible for working with your colleagues, seeking to improve the quality of services provided to our residents
- Assist in planning programmes of care together with the unit team. Implementing these plans under the supervision of the designated Supervisor
- Contribute to record keeping under the supervision of a qualified staff member keeping accurate records of residents care with due regard to the confidentiality of information relating to residents. It is the responsibility of the qualified staff to arrange regular reviews and to countersign all entries into records.
- Flexible and co-operative and willing in undertaking allocated realistic team tasks
- Undertake cleaning of spillage’s, including body fluids in line with Trust infection control policies and procedures
Person specification
Education/Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Good general education
- Previous experience of working within a care home
Desirable criteria
- NVQ care or equivalent
Skills/Experience
Essential criteria
- Assist in the provision and care to residents
- Assist residents’ with all activities of daily living (Hygiene, nutrition etc.)
- Manual handling of residents using lifting aids
- The ability to be aware of when to request assistance from senior and other members of the team.
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- I.T. Literate
- Attend all mandatory training as required
- Prepared to attend additional training as identified by senior staff
