Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen in our 21 bedded elderly Rehabilitation unit and palliative care on Avocet Ward

We are looking for a Band 6 Deputy Ward manager to join our team. You will assist in leading our dedicated team in the provision of expert patient care and rehabilitation, so if you are looking for a challenge, this could be the post for you.  

ALL APPLICANTS SHOULD HAVE A FULL NMC REGISTRATION 

As a registered nurse assist in the provision of active rehabilitation, within this 21 bedded inpatient environment.

The role with incorporate the assessing of needs, developing and implementing programmes of care and evaluating this input to support the facilitation of appropriate discharge back to community.

The post will support the ward manager in ensuring effective and efficient day to day running of the ward ensuring safety at all times.

The post holder is responsible for providing all aspects of patient care through the assessment, planning implementation and evaluation of programmes of care. The post holder will assist and is expected to supervise all junior staff and be able to teach qualified and unqualified staff.

Main duties of the job

Clinical/Professional Duties

  • Develop the assessment, development, implementation and delivery of agreed standard of nursing care.
  • Assist the ward manager to ensure all staff are aware of prevention and control of infection.
  • Ensure agreed standard of ward cleanliness by reporting any concerns to the ward manager.

Patient/Client Care

  • Work collaboratively with patients’ families, MTD and social care to ensure patients receive timely and safe discharge.
  • Act as an advocate for patients and protect their rights and dignity.
  • Discharge patients following the Trust’s Discharge Policy.
  • Provide basic, intermediate and advanced patient care.
