Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is the only acute hospital provider in the Mid and South Essex Integrated Care System (ICS), which is a system of health and care partners working together for our local population.
Within Mid and South Essex there are 149 GP practices, operating from over 200 sites, forming 27 Primary Care Networks and one Ambulance Trust. There are also three main community and mental health service providers who work together through a community collaborative.

Job overview
The role of our Ward Clerks on Maternity Ward is integral to the smooth running of the wards (antenatal, postnatal and labour ward) based on the principle that our clerical team provide a strong administrative infrastructure to the ward.
The role is a full-time, flexible position at 37.5 hours per week covering a 24 hour period 7 days a week. The successful candidate will be prepared to work flexibly with their colleagues to cover the 24/7service.
The post holder will provide an efficient and effective reception and administrative support service. Required to work as part of a team, have a flexible and professional attitude to work and provide cover across the maternity department, covering the front reception desk, the Antenatal ward, Fetal medicine reception, Postnatal ward and labour ward.
They will be expected to undertake administrative duties as required by the line manager, including tracking patients’ notes, scanning notes, inputting data on Medway, outcoming appointments on Medway. Making baby packs and discharging patients
Main duties of the job
Provide general reception duties including monitoring entry to the ward and ensuring safety procedures are followed
Use of the Medway computer system for various processes, including the updating of patient demographics and hospital activity.
Booking follow up appointments, transferring patients across the unit and making sure appointments are outcomed
Accessing mailboxes to ensure visits are acted upon from other hospital maternity units if required
Scanning and uploading of patients notes and scan
Organising patients notes, and discharge packs
