An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and autonomous senior practitioner to join the Trust as the Lead Nurse for the Learning Disability/Autism  team.

We are looking for a motivated individual with vision to change and improve services, who is empathetic and dedicated to working as part of the Safeguarding team.

Applications are invited from Learning Disability Registered Nurses, who have current significant experience of working with people with learning disabilities and extensive experience of working at Band 7 level or above in a health care environment.

We are looking for someone who has excellent leadership skills, effective organisational skills, highly developed communication skills and the ability to interact with people from a wide variety of professional backgrounds. As a key member of our Leadership team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the care and experience of patients with learning disabilities, autistic people  within our Trust.

Main duties of the job

To provide excellent leadership and management to the Learning Disability Nurses across Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust (MSEFT).

To act as the strategic lead in the development of equitable and high-quality health care for people with autism and learning disabilities  within acute care across the MSEFT.

To contribute to the planning and prioritising of targets with the Associate Director for Safeguarding, Director of Nursing, Chief Nurse and other strategic partners.

To provide evidence based clinical advice and expertise to practitioners within the service, service users, cares and others.

To take delegated responsibility for operational management, leadership and clinical practice as required. 

To take a lead role in the development of education and training programmes delivered by the service regarding the health agenda.

To taking a leading role in audit, research and governance arrangements within the service.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Relevant training and be currently registered on the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) register.
  • Experience of being a clinical expert and having completed specific post registration training at Masters Level or equivalent.

Knowledge and Experience

Essential criteria
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of relevant policy, legislation and practice issues at local and national level.
  • Knowledge and understanding of governance, quality, risk management, and data protection.
  • Experience of leading service planning, development and strategy.
  • Experience of staff management.

Communication Skills

Essential criteria
  • Ability to impart highly complex and sensitive information to others with different levels of understanding.
  • Demonstrates excellent oral and written communication skills including presentations and publications.
