Job overview

We are currently recruiting for Band 2 Dialysis Assistant/ Housekeeper to help maintain our high standard of care.  The successful candidates will be able to cope in a busy and dynamic clinic environment, working alongside nursing staff and health carers

As a Haemodialysis unit Dialysis Assistant/Housekeeper, Communicate clearly and politely with patients, visitors and colleagues. The role demands a high level of interpersonal skill and professionalism in all interactions, whether with patients, colleagues, or external partners.

Main duties of the job

In this rewarding role, you’ll play an essential part in creating a safe, supportive and compassionate environment for our patients. You’ll provide clear, helpful non‑clinical information and act as an early alert for the clinical team by promptly reporting any concerns, distress or safety issues. With a keen eye for detail, you’ll escalate incidents, spillages or hazards to the nurse in charge, helping maintain the highest standards of safety across the ward.

You’ll protect patient dignity and confidentiality at all times, following Trust policies and contributing confidently to handovers, briefings and team meetings. By accurately following written and verbal instructions, you’ll support daily operational tasks, including recording cleaning activities, waste disposal and stock updates. You’ll liaise with estates, facilities and domestic services to ensure the clinical environment remains well‑maintained and fully functional.

You’ll work closely with the multidisciplinary team to ensure smooth, coordinated care, while recognising barriers such as language differences, emotional distress or sensory impairments.  You’ll maintain accurate, timely records that meet NHS standards and legal requirements, ensuring clear documentation that supports continuity of care.
