Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is the only acute hospital provider in the Mid and South Essex Integrated Care System (ICS), which is a system of health and care partners working together for our local population.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for Specialist Pharmacist - Technical Services.
This post offers the opportunity to pursue a career in both Clinical services and Technical aseptic services in our state of the art Pharmacy Technical Services Unit.
The Technical services unit holds an MHRA Manufacturing Specials (MS) license and offers a comprehensive production service to patients in the hospital and provides services to external customers and other NHS Trust.

Main duties of the job
You would work closely with the Clinical lead Pharmacist, Chief Technician and the Deputy Head of Technical Services for the management and strategic development of the service. You would take responsibility for Pharmacist based roles, training, IT systems and professional aspects of the service, including supervision of rotational pharmacists and pre-registration Pharmacists.
You should be a team player with the ability to introduce change and have a keen interest in training others. You should have drive to actively participate in service evolution. Your personal commitment to training and development will be supported by our dedicated team of specialist Pharmacist and Technicians. Previous experience in Radiopharmacy is desirable but not essential.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
You will be a Specialist Pharmacist for Technical Services and will be responsible for ensuring that good manufacturing practice, medicines legislation and agreed procedures are adhered to on a day to day basis.
You will in conjunction with the Chief Technician will be responsible for ensuring that the Technical service unit’s area of the Quality management system (QMS) are maintained and developed as required under the MHRA Specials License.
You will assist the Head of Technical Services in providing Technical services training and supervision of Pharmacists.
You will work with the Chief Technician, Technical services, deputies and other senior members of staff of other services within the Trust.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Master’s Degree in Pharmacy (or equivalent)
- One year pre-registration training
- Certificate in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent Post graduate qualification
- Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council
Desirable criteria
- Membership of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society
Knowledge & Experience
Essential criteria
- A minimum of 2 years post qualification Pharmacy experience, with a minimum of 6 month Hospital Pharmacy Technical services experience
- Knowledge of Good manufacturing practice (GMP) and ability to apply this knowledge in practice
Desirable criteria
- Line management experience
- Financial awareness regarding the management of budgets.
- Radiopharmacy experience
