Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is the only acute hospital provider in the Mid and South Essex Integrated Care System (ICS), which is a system of health and care partners working together for our local population.

Within Mid and South Essex there are 149 GP practices, operating from over 200 sites, forming 27 Primary Care Networks and one Ambulance Trust. There are also three main community and mental health service providers who work together through a community collaborative.

We collaborate with other valuable partners, including three Healthwatch organisations, nine voluntary and community sector organisations and three top tier local authorities, with seven district, borough and city councils, as well as our local universities.

Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen in our Southend office for a motivated and well-organised individual to join our dynamic Research and Development (R&D) team. We are seeking a Research Coordinator to play a key role in supporting the delivery of high-quality clinical research and innovative projects that shape the future of patient care.

This is a fantastic chance to be part of a dedicated team at the forefront of research across our hospitals and satellite sites.

Working alongside the Research Approvals Manager, you will assess proposed clinical research studies and provide assurance of their suitability for opening across the Trust. This includes the facilitation of study feasibility, set up, approvals and ongoing performance management of studies across the Trust. You will also liaise with the R&D Finance team to ensure the invoicing of Sponsors for all appropriate studies, making sure that income is recovered in a timely manner.

Utilising your excellent communication skills, you will advise researchers about the research application and approvals process, as  well as liaising with external study sponsors and funders. You will be well organised, with great attention to detail and able to manage a diverse workload. Line management experience would be advantageous.
