Locum Consultant Gynaecological Oncologist

Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is the only acute hospital provider in the Mid and South Essex Integrated Care System (ICS), which is a system of health and care partners working together for our local population.

Specialist in Gynaecological Oncology
We are offering an exciting new opportunity to join our Specialist Gynaecological Oncology team within the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology at Southend Hospital. Working alongside Mr K Razvi and Miss F Toneva, you will be supported to develop and expand your surgical expertise, including opportunities for joint operating and advanced training.
In this role, you will play a pivotal part in building on the existing strength and reputation of our Gynaecological Oncology Cancer Centre, contributing to the continued growth and development of specialist services across the Mid & South Essex NHS Foundation Trust.
Our service provides a full range of gynae-oncology surgery, including laparoscopic and Da Vinci robotic procedures, giving you exposure to the latest techniques and innovations in the field. As a key member of our well-established Complex Pelvic MDT, you will also have the opportunity to develop skills in pelvic exenterative surgery and other radical procedures central to gynaecological oncology.

Main duties of the job
To provide clinical input and leadership to the Gynaecological Oncology specialist MDT at Southend Hospital / Basildon Hospital
To work as a key member of the Gynaecological Oncology Consultant team and the multi-disciplinary team at Basildon and Southend.
To build on the already established pathways between both sites to optimise patient pathways and support further development of the Network.
To support the established training programme in Gynaecological Oncology for SITM trainees and other fellows in Gynaecological Oncology.
To provide support to the colposcopy service at Southend University Hospital.
To collaborate in clinical studies and publications.
To take a leadership role in ensuring that the local Gynaecological Oncology services are compliant with current National Guidance and standards.
To contribute to the development of Gynaecological oncology services in Broomfield Hospital including the centralisation of Complex Gynaecological Surgery in Southend Hospital
The appointee must have successfully completed sub-specialty training in Gynaecological Oncology. Any special interest in the field of Gynaecological Oncology would be welcomed and the candidate will be supported in introducing new services.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- MBBS or equivalent
- Full GMC Registration
- Completed MRCOG or equivalent
- CCT in Obstetrics & Gynaecology
- Entry onto the GMC specialist register or eligibility for entry within 6 months of the date of application
- Sub-speciality training and RCOG accreditation or equivalent in Gynaecological Oncology.
Desirable criteria
- MD or PhD
- ATSM in Colposcopy/BSCCP accreditation and ATSM in hysteroscopy
Experience & Ability
Essential criteria
- Clinical training and experience equivalent to that required for gaining UK subspecialist CCT in Gynaecological Oncology with wide experience in gynaecological oncology including non surgical aspects.
- Fully trained gynaecological oncologist able to manage surgical and non surgical (including palliative care problems)
- Excellent communication and counselling skills with patients, medical and nursing staff
- Excellent IT Skills.
- Commitment to effective departmental management and management of a multi-disciplinary group. Evidence of Management training.
