Job overview
Are you an experienced and passionate theatre practitioner with a strong commitment to education, leadership, and excellence in patient care?
We have an exciting opportunity for you to take a key role in leading and coordinating our Practice Education Team within Main Theatres.
In this role, you’ll oversee the training and development of all new starters, ensuring that every team member is fully supported to deliver safe, high-quality, and compassionate care. You’ll bring strong clinical expertise, organisational skills, and inspirational leadership to enhance the performance and morale of our multidisciplinary team.
As a visible and proactive leader, you’ll foster a positive learning culture, acting as a role model for teamwork, professionalism, and continuous improvement. You’ll also play a vital role in the 24-hour operational management of Main Theatres, working closely with the Theatre Coordinator and Floor Consultants to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
Your responsibilities will include managing staffing for theatre lists, addressing short-notice absences, and escalating concerns appropriately. You’ll also help identify and implement innovative solutions to maintain service continuity and drive ongoing improvement across the department.
If you’re ready to lead by example, inspire others, and make a real impact on both staff development and patient care — we’d love to hear from you.
Main duties of the job

Orientate the students and new starters to the perioperative environment and give relevant information on health and safety and channels of communication.

Work closely in collaboration with Theatre Matron and Theatre Manager to ensure an effective utilisation of resources across all the specialties.
Support the division by developing collaborative relationships between the sites in developing a standard training programme.
Have responsibility to develop and support the perioperative service in the delivery of skills concerned with practice within the perioperative environment and develop educational links with related units.
