We have an exciting new vacancy for a speech & language therapy assistant to work in our friendly hospital based Speech & Language Therapy team.   You will work directly with our service users who have a range of communication problems and swallowing disorders as well as assisting the clinical staff with a range of administrative and practical tasks.  Previous NHS experience and/or knowledge of what an adult acute Speech & Language Therapy team do would be an advantage.

We have excellent links with other MSE hospitals and our community partners.

The main duties of this role are:

  • To be professionally accountable and work independently, managing and prioritising your workload
  • To use own knowledge, skills and initiative to perform tasks independently, accessing advice and supervision accordingly
  • To communicate delegated factual information to patients, carers using persuasion, reassurance, tact and sensitivity
  • To create individual resources such as communication passports, timetable etc to be used as part of therapist's intervention.

Working for our organisation

We work together, and in conjunction with MSE Health and Care Partnership, to deliver excellent local and specialist services, to improve the health and wellbeing of our patients in a compassionate way, and provide a respectful, but vibrant place for staff to develop, innovate and build careers.

From facilities through to consultant specialists we want to be the best, to achieve this we need to recruit not just those who are the finest in their field but also those who have the potential to be. Yes, experience is important but so is outlook – if you are dynamic, forward-thinking and enthusiastic we want you to join us.
