Job overview

This is an opportunity to join the Gastroenterology team at Mid and South Essex NHS Trust.

This role will be based in Southend Hospital, with the opportunity to work cross site performing  Endoscopy lists at Orsett or a new CDC in  Basildon. 

The successful candidate will help to provide in-patient care for Gastroenterology patients on a 1:5 basis Gastroenterologist of the Week model.

Main duties of the job

You will work alongside the established gastroenterology consultants to support provision of inpatient & outpatient services

You  will undertake teaching duties of undergraduate and postgraduate medical staff and other professional groups (such as nursing and pharmacy).

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Please refer to attached Job Description but will include:

To provide clinical care for patients referred to Gastroenterology at Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust.

To contribute to the development, compliance and professional requirements of Trust priorities and policies.

To actively participate in the supervision and training of a multidisciplinary work force in the Gastroenterology and Endoscopy Department.

Consultant experience

Essential criteria
  • Gastroenterology consultant over 2 years experience
Desirable criteria
  • Consultant experience less than 2 years

Endoscopy training

Essential criteria
  • Endoscopy performance and training
Desirable criteria
  • ERCP experience and signed off

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • MBBS or Equivalent & GMC
  • Entry on GMC Specialist Register; eligible for entry on Register or within six months of receipt of Certificate of Completion of training (CCT) at time of interview
