Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is the only acute hospital provider in the Mid and South Essex Integrated Care System (ICS), which is a system of health and care partners working together for our local population.

Job overview

We are looking for a Service Manager to join our Ophthalmology Divisional Management Team. You will report to the General Manager and will be accountable to the Deputy Director of Operations.

If successful, you will support the General Manager in the operational delivery and performance management to ensure key access standards are met, maintained and sustained. This will also include the cost-effective planning, development, implementation and management of services within the Surgery

You will also be responsible for operational and planning issues and will work closely with the General Manager, Divisional Director, Deputy Director of Operations, Head of Nursing, Lead Clinicians and Matrons to identify and implement solutions.

Main duties of the job

If successful,  you will work closely with the  ophthalmology management team  to co-ordinate service delivery and business development. You will also liaise with the medical staffing coordinator to ensure the rotas enable continuity of service and act as business development support with regard to specific projects or initiatives 

In particular you will:

      Provide business planning support to the team

      Provide high quality project support including information and analysis.

      Undertake reporting and analysis of complex information to support delivery of constitutional standards.

      Manage the  patient tracking lists  to ensure oversight and escalation is maintained 

      Responsible for maintaining key performance standards  18 week RTT.

      Responsible for initiating and coordinating complaint responses

      Provide support to ensure medical staffing rotas are running effectively

      Responsible for financial monitoring

      Have specific responsibility for the service improvement Agenda supporting service improvement

      Development of Divisional teams, both clinical and non-clinical, who lead the patient journey improving processes and patient experience as required.

      The post holder will be a key member of the team whose overarching goal is to enable promote and support the effective operational management of the Service
