Job overview

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic individual who is keen in work in our Stroke therapy team helping patients in the acute hospital setting.

Applications are sought from individuals who are committed to providing high quality patient care, have excellent communication skills and can demonstrate the ability to cope in a range of busy and challenging environments.

You will be joining a team who provide high quality patient focused care and will be required to work within a busy ward environment. Training for this role will be provided to support your development through supervision, competency training and in service training.

Main duties of the job

This position is based on the Stroke Unit as part of the Stroke Rehabilitation Team.

The successful candidate will be required to work with patients with a variety of different presentations that will include:

  • Patients admitted to the stroke unit following a stroke.
  • Patients who have become acutely unwell and require therapy to support their recovery.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The role involves carrying out treatment plans, as directed by a therapist, and supporting patients to wash and dress, be able to transfer in and out of bed and to walk.  You would be required to collect basic information from patients, report to the therapist, provide equipment and work as part of the multi-disciplinary team.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • 5 GCSE's or equivalent
  • Good standard of literacy - no errors in application
  • Basic Computer Skills - no errors in application
Desirable criteria
  • NVQ 2 or 3

Experience in healthcare

Essential criteria
  • Experience working in an administration and/or customer service role
  • Experience in working in a people facing role
Desirable criteria
  • Previous NHS or Care Experience
