Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is the only acute hospital provider in the Mid and South Essex Integrated Care System (ICS), which is a system of health and care partners working together for our local population.
Within Mid and South Essex there are 149 GP practices, operating from over 200 sites, forming 27 Primary Care Networks and one Ambulance Trust. There are also three main community and mental health service providers who work together through a community collaborative.

Job overview
The specialist cancer centre for Urology in Essex has been funded £2 million worth of investment. To grow our Urology Team we have an exciting opportunity of expanding our Surgical Care Practitioners (SCP).
We are looking for 1 lead SCP and working with Anglia Ruskin to increase our footprint further and training SCPs over a 3 year period.
Main duties of the job
An exciting opportunity for a fully trained permanent SCP job to join the Urology Team at Southend Hospital.
The Surgical Care Practitioner (SCP) role is well established within healthcare organisations and has been shown to enhance patient care, maintain surgical services and support surgical training.
The role encompasses the provision of care and appropriate intervention within the pre, peri and post-operative environment and the you will also be required to provide skilled surgical first assistance, particularly in robotic surgery

- RGN/AHP Professional Qualifications
- SFA Course Parts 1 & 2
Desirable criteria
- Current ALS/ ILS Certification or willing to work towards
- Non-Medical Prescriber or willing to work towards
- Mentorship in Practice Qualifications
- Masters Level Qualification in Surgical care Practice
- Clinical Assessment and Diagnostic Certificate at Masters Lever
