Job overview

This is an opportunity to join an exceptional and growing Radiology team in an outstanding area of the country.  The department has a great reputation within the region with a positive workplace culture.

Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is a large DGH which was recently ranked 17th amongst England's Acute NHS Trusts. The post has arisen as the Trust want to expand its radiology offering.

Experience in general cross-sectional imaging and acute radiology are essential. We are seeking colleagues who will enhance and complement
our established team of 34 radiologists, offering a wide range of specialist and general reporting and intervention. Interests in Thoracic, Urology,
MSK,  and Paediatric imaging would be of particular value. However, we would seriously consider other subspecialty interests in line
with the Trust’s needs.

Main duties of the job

  • To consult within the specialty of Radiology. This will include reporting and advising on imaging including CT, MRI and plain film.
  • To participate in an MDT of the applicants subspecialty interest.
  • If appropriate to the applicants subspecialty, to offer 'hands on' sessions e.g. US and fluoroscopy.
  • To participate in an acute Radiology service (vetting and reporting) for an average of 4 hours per week during normal working hours.
  • To participate in extended radiology working on weekday evenings until 20:00 and at weekends 08:30 to
    17:30 as required.
  • To be on an emergency rota for exceptionally rare out of hours IT emergencies when the connection to our outsourcing company is
    unavailable.
  • To engage in Registrar training (9 trainees from the Severn Deanery rotate through the department every six months).

Working for our organisation

We take pride in placing people at the centre of everything we do, working together as a united team. Driven by a shared ambition to continually grow, develop, and learn, we recognise and value every contribution. By combining our experience and skills, we not only support our vibrant, diverse communities, but also support one another.

With a team of over 9,000 employees, we are proud to be the largest employer in Gloucestershire and rank among the top 10 largest Trusts in the South West region. By joining our Trust, you will benefit from an excellent package that includes exclusive benefits, flexible working opportunities and the chance to gain valuable experience in one or both of our innovative hospitals.

As well as generous annual leave allowance, you will have access to the excellent NHS pension scheme, competitive bank rates, discounts at local shops and restaurants, access to two on-site nurseries, discounted public transport, reward and recognition and a range of health and wellbeing initiatives to support you.
