Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join GHFT's finance team as Digital Finance Business Partner and Corporate Assurance.

You will be an experienced,  dynamic and driven finance professional coming into a key leadership role in the corporate finance team, with the ability to work  independently as well as working productively with the Digital leadership and senior management team and with finance colleagues across the department . You will play a key role in driving the financial performance and financial sustainability of this high-profile area in the Trust.

Main duties of the job

The Digital Finance Business Partner and Corporate Assurance provides business partnering support to the Digital Directorate in all their monthly, annual and ad hoc financial performance and planning activities.

They are responsible for reviewing the monthly financial position as well as for the completion of monthly forecasts and consolidation of a monthly performance report, in consultation with the Directorate Managers and the Head of Corporate Finance. The post holder will present thee findings at the Directorate and Finance oversight meetings. They will lead the Directorate's annual financial planning process and undertake costings of service developments and savings plans.

The post holder will line manage one member of staff.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Main

Main Duties & Responsibilities

Finance Lead for Digital and CITS, providing strategic financial insight and analysis at senior leadership level. This will include co-ordinating budgeting, forecasting, project accounting and management of contracts.

To be point of contact for all Finance related matters relating to the IM&T Department (GHFT) and Countywide Information Technology Service (CITS)

To ensure Digital budget holders are secure in their knowledge of their budgets, processes, current status and to provide expertise and support when issues arise

Work closely with the CDIO, programme directors, service leads, corporate services, the Senior Project Accountant (Capital), Head of Corporate Finance and the Finance Leadership Team, in providing a comprehensive digital finance business partnering service, resolving complex and potentially contentious issues

To instigate and adopt change to improve finance processes, from Digital grass roots through to Corporate Services Reporting, for both project and BAU activities

Finance lead for the Digital FSP programme

Provide comprehensive financial advice to business case development/programme teams in line with the guidance set out, as well as providing relevant and specific technical advice regarding discounted cashflows and NPV (for example).

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Fully Qualified Accountancy Qualification (ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA, ACA)
  • Masters Degree or Equivalent
  • Evidence of continuing professional and personal development

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Significant post qualification experience
  • Experience of working at a Senior Management level
  • Significant experience in providing comprehensive financial advice to business case development/programme teams in line with the guidance set out, as well as providing relevant and specific technical advice regarding discounted cashflows and NPV
  • NHS Experience
  • Experience in leading FSP/CIP programmes from a finance perspective
  • A good technical working knowledge of the NHS financial regime
  • Experience in staff management
  • Significant experience in effectively dealing with conflicting priorities for self and teams and proven ability to work effectively on own initiative
  • Experience of demonstrating strong credible, professional leadership skills including the provision of clear direction and training
  • Demonstrable experience of building highly effective collaborative relationships with a wide range of senior stakeholders within an organisation and with external bodies
Desirable criteria
  • Awareness of Project Management methods, such as PRINCE
