Job overview
AMU is an a 40 bedded unit, which includes 13 trolley spaces for the Medical Assessment Unit. We have 8 bed spaces designated for the Enhanced Care bays.
We are open 24 hours per day 356 days per year. We admit patients from the emergency department/ SDEC/ AEC and Cinapsis.
We are looking to recruit a enthusiastic nurse who has a passion for Acute Medicine.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for a nurse to join our team and help drive the success of AMU. The role will involve working in both AMU and MAZ alongside the wider MDT.
We are looking for an individual who is highly motivated and who can use their own initiative .
You should have demonstrable experience in acute emergency medicine and be able to communicate clearly and confidently with patients, relatives and members of staff.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The post holder will work according to the NMC Code of Professional Standards of Practice and Behavior and relevant professional guidelines and be accountable for their own professional actions.
Promote teamwork within a multi-professional environment as a visible, clinical nurse leader
Ensure planning and delivery of care aligns with the professional values of care, compassion, and respect.
Demonstrate critical analysis and decision-making skills in delivering high-quality, evidence-based care.

Qualifications, Experience and Skills
Essential criteria
- Current NMC registration
- Evidence of professional development
- Basic life support up to date
- Knowledge of patient conditions from different specialities
- Ability to work within a team and work effectively with others
- Knowledge appraisal process
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- Flexible internal rotation to different areas to the department and trust if required
- Team Focussed
- Strong desire to improve standards
Desirable criteria
- Mentorship Support for Professional Practice (willing to undertake)
- Same day emergency care experience
- Venepuncture, Cannulation Taking ECG
- ILS or ALS
- Acute medical nursing care, AMU/ED experience
