Successful applicants will be supported and encouraged to develop all-round capabilities in Medical Education whilst gaining experience in one or two medical specialties and acute medicine on call. You will be key to enhancing the training of Foundation Doctors, Internal Medical Trainees, Physician Associates and Advanced Nurse Practitioners.

Main duties of the job
These posts are suitable for trainees with full MRCP (or equivalent) who have completed Core Medical Training and would like to develop an interest in medical education. They are also helpful if you are unsure which specialty you wish to pursue or wish to enhance your CV prior to applying to specialty training. The posts are for one year.
You would be supported to study for a PG certificate in medical education (Teaching and Learning for Health Professionals) at the University of Bristol. This is funded by the Trust.
You will receive training in one or two sub-specialties including Cardiology, Renal Medicine, Neurology, Rheumatology, Gastroenterology, Endocrinology and Respiratory Medicine, depending on your interests. Other interests can be accommodated. Training includes both clinic and ward based experience, along with becoming an integral part of the Acute Internal Medicine Team.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Post-holder opportunities include:
• Participation in Medical Education Programme Development, including Research and Innovation and NHSE's Enhancing Generalist Skills Programme.
• Scholarship in Postgraduate Medical Education including Research, Presentation and Publication
• Facilitation of supervised Learning Events/Workplace Assessment with Foundation, Internal Medical and GPVTS colleagues.
• Organisation of bedside teaching, whilst supporting PACES
• Delivery of Mock PACES Examination

Qualifications & Training
Essential criteria
- Full GMC registration and a license to practice
- Must have completed Core Medical Training
- Full MRCP
- Broad Clinical Experience within General Medicine
- Experience of demonstrating Clinical Procedures to other HealthCare Professionals
- Interest in developing capabilities in Medical Education
- Ability to deliver feedback and mentor learners, motivating staff of all disciplines
Desirable criteria
- Participated in Research/Audit/Quality Improvement Project(s)
Knowledge & Skills
Essential criteria
- Experience and participation in departmental audits
- Ability to teach junior staff
- Good organisational skills and time management
Desirable criteria
- Previous evidence of QI
- Previous publications or research
