Due to maternity leave, an opportunity has arisen within Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust for a Band 7 Specialist Paediatric Team Lead Dietitian. Up to 1.0 WTE is available on a fixed-term basis. This post would suit an experienced Band 6 paediatric dietitian seeking to develop leadership and management experience, or an established Band 7 paediatric dietitian with team-lead experience.

The successful applicant will provide day-to-day operational leadership and require strong specialist knowledge across a range of paediatric conditions.The role includes managing a varied and challenging caseload, primarily within the acute hospital setting, while contributing to countywide and community services, including the GLOW paediatric weight-management service. The post holder will work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team and support less experienced dietetic staff.Applicants should demonstrate effective leadership, sound clinical judgement, excellent communication and organisational skills, and the ability to work confidently within a busy, changing environment. Relevant continuing professional development and experience of managing complex paediatric cases are essential.The successful applicant will join a well-established, respected and supportive paediatric dietetic team providing a countywide service.The post will be based primarily at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital, with work across Trust sites and community settings, including visits where required.

As Lead Paediatric Dietitian, you will provide clinical and operational leadership for a countywide dietetic team.The role combines specialist practice, team leadership and service development. You will manage a complex caseload across acute, outpatient and community settings, supporting children and families with food allergy, faltering growth, obesity, restrictive eating, coeliac disease, cystic fibrosis and feeding difficulties. You will also contribute to multidisciplinary clinics and the GLOW weight-management service.You will assess complex nutritional needs, develop care plans, advise on enteral nutrition and support staff with complex cases and safeguarding concerns.

Providing acute hospital services from two large district general hospitals, as well as outpatient clinics and some surgery services from community hospitals throughout Gloucestershire. Our department is a large, friendly team operating across two sites, Cheltenham General Hospital and Gloucestershire Royal Hospital. The Dietetic paediatric team at Gloucester Royal hospital are a friendly, dynamic and forward-thinking team who have a fantastic reputation within the trust.


We are proud to include a diverse range of specialists, including our Home Enteral Feeding Team. At Gloucester, our department consists of Acute Dietitians, Renal Dietitians, and the Home Enteral Feeding Team, while at Cheltenham, we have a dedicated Oncology Dietitian team alongside the Acute team and a Specialist Weight Management Team (SWMS). Across both sites, we also feature a Nutrition Support Team, a Specialist Gastroenterology Team, and Specialist Diabetes Dietitians. Our multidisciplinary teams are made up of dietitians, support workers, dietetic assistants, and nurses, all working collaboratively to provide exceptional care. Located in Gloucestershire, our hospitals are set in a beautiful part of the country, surrounded by areas of outstanding natural beauty.   • Registered with HCPC
  • Attendance on relevant accredited courses
  • Extensive NHS or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrate experience of involvement in service development
  • Broad and deep paediatric clinical dietetic knowledge
  • Able to implement clinical governance
  • Be responsible for clinical supervision of junior staff and students
  • Contribution to treatment pathways and outcomes that have resulted in improvements
  • Ability to assess individuals with complex medical problems and to plan their dietetic care
  • Demonstrates flexibility and a willingness to support wider clinical services, following appropriate training and in line with service requirements.
  • Ability to problem-solve
  • Experience of effective working relationships within a teams
  • Ability to manage change and conflict to ensure resolutions with positive outcomes.
