Applicants must hold a BSc Radiography or equivalent; have HCPC registration and appropriate experience in MRI.

24 hour service provision

Main duties of the job

This is not a training post and you must have MRI experience scanning:

MRI: Brains/C-spines/Cauda Equina/MSK/Prostates/Gynae/Small Bowel/dynamic studies/bolus tracking/arthograms and  demonstrate knowledge of coils and MRI parameters

In addition we are starting a Cardiac MRI service so Experience with CT and/or MRI Cardiacs would be desirable but not essential.  The post will entail some rotation through CT so experience in this area is also desirable but not essential as full training can be provided.

The post holder will also work alongside the band 7 modality leads to deliver an efficient, effective service, whilst offering guidance and support to junior colleagues and managing the day to day operations including equipment QA, services and appointments.

We are a large directorate offering a broad range of sub-specialty work, CPD is encouraged and we believe we can offer an exciting opportunity in a very diverse department with scope to progress in any area of interest.

We are a placement site for undergraduate radiographers, trainee assistant practitioners and undergraduate sonographers and have close links with several universities including the University of Gloucestershire.

The Directorate is innovative in developing the service whilst remaining responsive to the needs of patients and ensuring the development and education of staff.

Working for our organisation

The Radiology Directorate at GHNHSFT manages services across 10 sites in Gloucestershire including 2 District General Hospitals and a new CDC this year. We are the second largest directorate in the South West offering a broad range of sub-specialty work for adult and paediatric radiography including trauma and orthopaedic examinations, mobile imaging and general radiography, cardiac and interventional procedures , digital fluoroscopy, CT , MRI  and Ultrasound.

This is an especially exciting time to join us as the department as the MRI service has recently had 2 brand new, state of the art Scanners installed with aims to introduce Cardiac MRI in the coming financial year. In addition the trust has invested heavily in Radiology in recent years with both Gloucester and Cheltenham undergoing major refurbishment, benefiting from equipment replacement including 4 new digital xray rooms, 1 cone beam CT OPG/Ceph room and 3 new CT Scanners  as well as 2 new cardiac cath labs and 2 IR rooms .

CPD is actively encouraged and there are opportunities to learn additional skills in all modalities to ensure that you feel fulfilled in your role.
