This is an exciting career opportunity at Gloucestershire Hospitals within the People Planning and Workforce Information team. The nature of this role does entail on site working. However, as a flexible employer we are open to hybrid working, for instance 3 days office based two days homeworking.
In addition, we will also consider jobshare and part time working.

Main duties of the job
If you currently work within the NHS in a similar role within Workforce Information utilising ESR, perhaps looking to progress or are seeking a new challenge in your chosen career then this role could be just what you are looking for. This is your chance to work in partnership with the Principal Analyst - Workforce Information in evolving our organisation's People Planning and Workforce Information initiatives. Collaborate with the team to elevate workforce information provision, ensuring alignment with statutory requirements and organisational objectives. Dive into high-level, complex data analytics, to drive strategic decision-making, providing pivotal information that will contribute to the success of projects.
Key to production of high-level data, is the assurance that the information is accurate and analytical work is of the highest quality, which will form part of your role.

Degree level education or equivalent.
In depth knowledge of an information related field either acquired by postgraduate study to diploma level or equivalent experience
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present highly complex information, taking account of the needs and level of the audience
Advanced level of skill in information analysis. The data may be conflicting and contentious to those receiving it.
Ability to write and present clear reports, short articles and presentations taking into account the audience who will receive it eg project work
Expert technical specialist knowledge of ESR including in depth knowledge of NHS data definitions, terminology and ability to maintain and update the database. This includes a thorough understanding of the current issues facing the NHS and the role of information in this context
Demonstrable relational database experience and skills including extraction and manipulation of data etc
Experience of working in the NHS

Essential criteria
- Degree level education or equivalent.
- Ability to identify problems and inconsistencies with complex data and produce workable solutions.
- Experience of working with highly complex data
- Advanced level of skill in information analysis. The data may be conflicting and contentious to those receiving it.
- Ability to engage with senior staff at a professional level to identify management information needs. Ability to consider problems and issues in the broad context and look beyond the immediate situation.
- Ability to work under pressure, dealing with changing and frequently competing priorities to tight deadlines.
- Ability to analyse complex information and workforce trends to identify key concerns and develop potential solutions.
- Expert technical specialist knowledge of ESR including in depth knowledge of NHS data definitions, terminology and ability to maintain and update the database. This includes a thorough understanding of the current issues facing the NHS and the role of information in this context
- Experience of working in the NHS
- Demonstrable relational database experience and skills including extraction and manipulation of data etc
- Works effectively both autonomously under own initiative, and as part of a team
- Expert skills in the use of data extraction from ESR including the tailoring of unique reports using ESR BI and PC applications such as Excel, Publisher, Word and Access, using skills at an advanced level of expertise.
Desirable criteria
- In depth knowledge of an information related field either acquired by postgraduate study to diploma level or equivalent experience
- Well-developed sensitivity to stakeholder relationships with a constructive yet strong approach to challenge.
- Experience in the knowledge and use of NHS workforce metrics and reporting processes eg. Model Hospital
