Interventional Radiology Operational & Performance Manager (& IGIS), Band 8a

Are you looking for a new and exciting opportunity to join a proliferate fast-paced Interventional Radiology (IR) service?

Do you have the drive and passion to support a fantastic unique initiative, collaborating across 3 divisions and services in the Image-Guided Interventional Service - IGIS (Interventional Radiology, Cardiology & Vascular teams)?

The Operational & Performance Manager will be responsible for providing operational and performance management of the IR speciality, supporting the Radiology Service Line.

They will be supporting and driving forward collaborative working across the 3 large specialties making up the Image Guided Interventional Service, striving to ensure all 3 specialties are delivering efficient ways of working in a co-located space within Imaging and across the hybrid theatres.

Main duties of the job

Interventional Radiology

- Operational delivery of the Interventional speciality

- Analysis of service performance to proactively identify key strengths and understand areas requiring improvements

- Line management of junior managers and team leaders

- Contributing to strategic planning of the IR service, alongside the Clinical Lead and Radiology Services Manager

- Accountable for delivery against key performance standards relating to IR (including DM01, 18-week RTT & 28/31/62 day cancer diagnosis

Image-Guided Interventional Service (IGIS)

- Working collaboratively across divisions with the Image-guided interventional service (IGIS) triumvirate to achieve the trust’s ‘Fit for the Future’ strategic plan, and associated delivery to streamline services, achieve efficiencies, and provide the best care for our patients

- Consistently strive for excellence in service development and embed innovation across the 3 specialties of IGIS to improve patient pathways 

- Embed and deliver a robust governance framework across the IGIS triumvirate, relevant to the shared services and estate

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Relevant postgraduate education to Master’s level
  • Extensive management training at postgraduate level or the equivalent experience gained through a management role

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Appropriate experience of working in the NHS in a management post, with experience of managing services, including exposure to solving a range of operational and strategic problems
  • Experience of delivering against set objectives and achieving key organisational targets, demonstrating continuous performance improvement
Desirable criteria
  • Proven teamwork and leadership skills, with experience of managing large groups of multidisciplinary staff
  • Experience of leading change and service development in a complex care environment

Knowledge, skills, abilities

Essential criteria
  • Abilities in advanced service redesign and development to provide high quality care and treatment to patients
  • Able to demonstrate effective working relationships and communication systems at all levels involving both internal and external partners, such as Service Lines / Divisions / ICBs and members of the public
  • Ability to develop, critically analyse and communicate ideas clearly and concisely within the organisation
  • Ability to utilise data and analyse information and trends to identify service needs
  • The ability to think creatively in identifying innovative solutions to improve and develop
  • Proven ability in managing operational performance in achieving key targets including budget management
  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation and communication skills at all levels
Desirable criteria
  • Recent demonstrable success of delivering operational performance against key targets within a prescribed timetable and to pre-determined standards of quality
  • Recent success in influencing and delivering successful service redesign/modernisation projects
