Job overview

The Dermatology Department currently consists of 14 consultants supported by 2 specialist doctors, 3 Specialty Grade Doctors, and a team of Specialist Dermatology Nurses and Cancer Nurse Specialists. The department has a complement of specialist trainees consisting of 5 Specialist Registrars rotating across the hospital sites in North Wales. We also have a GP trainee and FY2 Doctor placed in dermatology for 6 month and 4 month rotations respectively

Main duties of the job

This post is a part time post for 12 months, which has arisen due to maternity leave. It is ideal for someone wishing to progress to dermatology specialist training.

 

Working for our organisation

The Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board provides all aspects of health care for the population of North Wales, including Primary Care, Acute Care, Community Care and Mental Health. It covers the counties of Anglesey, Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire, Gwynedd and Wrexham.

 

The Health Board employs around 18,000 staff and has a budget of £1.8 billion. It serves a population of 695,000 and consists of 3 major DGH’s, situated in Wrexham, Bodelwyddan (Ysbyty Glan Clwyd) & Bangor (Ysbyty Gwynedd). Satellite surgical units are based at Llandudno and Abergele, and there are several Community Hospitals.

 

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The post holder will be supporting clinicians undertaking OPD and Minor Operations . The post-holder will be expected to participate in the Clinical Governance and mandatory training sessions that currently take place in the Dermatology Department. There will be encouragement and support to maintain CPD/CME activities.

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential criteria
  • Full GMC registration
  • MBBS or equivalent
Desirable criteria
  • Depending upon grade applied for, MRCP 1 or further qualifications

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Recent experience at Foundation Year 1and 2 level or equivalent, and evidence of achievement of Foundation Competencies
