Job overview

The Countess of Brecknock Hospice are seeking 2 WTE Band 6 Deputy Sister/ CNS's to join our amazing team and fantastic modern hospice in the heart of Hampshire!

This role is a rotational post with inpatient and community, with 6 months within each role which will continue. These roles are key to supporting both the inpatient unit and local community, enabling the optimal care of our patients and contributes to the success of our Trust. 

The delivery of a high quality, effective and compassionate care is paramount within HHFT.

Main duties of the job

Supporting the Clinical Matron, Lead CNS and Sister/Charge Nurse team in the delivery of a 24/7 service within the inpatient team while in the Junior Sister role, and then rotating to Community Palliative CNS role giving support to patients within the local community. 

Ensuring high standards of Professional Practice to ensure quality and safety of patient care, patient experience and the patient journey

Delivering specialised clinical practice, knowledge, skills and experience

Effective leadership

Undertaking the comprehensive assessment of patients, including those with a complex presentation where factors may be conflicting, requiring high level analysis and interpretation skills and the comparison of a range of options to achieve effective treatment.

Training and Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Professional UK registration NMC
  • 2/3 years post registration
  • • Ability to work and lead within a multidisciplinary team across an organisation
Desirable criteria
  • Degree or working towards degree in relevant field
  • Computer Literate
  • Knowledge and skills gained through alternative study
  • Evidence of CPD in palliative care

Skills and ability

Essential criteria
  • Clinical skills appropriate to Palliative care
  • demonstrate the required behaviour in keeping with trust value
  • good communication skills
  • Previous experience within hospice setting
Desirable criteria
  • specialist clinical skills across the relevant speciality
  • good understanding of equality and diversity in area of work
