We are delighted to offer this opportunity to join the Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Cardiology department.  Applications are invited for a Consultant Cardiologist (Electrophysiology EP and Devices) with full training and accreditation.

Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is a provider of cardiac services within the region, with a well-established reputation for clinical excellence, innovation and achievement. The Trust provides the range of secondary adult cardiac services across a large part of Hampshire, with hospitals situated in Basingstoke, Winchester and Andover that are covered by our service.  This post would ideally suit a talented and ambitious individual who would work alongside the other members of the Cardiology team.

This is a new consultant post to strengthen our electrophysiology and specialist arrhythmia team and bring new individual skills to our department within Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (HHFT). In addition, the post comprises general cardiology commitments and contribution to the cardiology on call rota.

Professional Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Full GMC Registration
  • On the GMC Specialist Register for Cardiology or eligible for entry within six months of attainment of CCT at date of interview
Desirable criteria
  • Higher research MD/PhD or Masters in appropriate areas

Clinical Experience & Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Competent in the management of cardiovascular disease at consultant level
  • Trained to consultant level in the performance of all aspects of complex echocardiography including stress and transoesophageal echo.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of delivering intraprocedural imaging during structural intervention
  • Experience of planning structural intervention procedures

Clinical Skills & Ability

Essential criteria
  • Ability to manage complex cardiac pathology independently.

Research & Teaching skills

Essential criteria
  • Experience of teaching at consultant or SpR level
  • Evidence of competent research skills
Desirable criteria
  • Higher degree (MD, PhD or equivalent)
  • High impact factor publication of clinical research
