This is an exciting opportunity to develop your leadership and medicines optimisation skills as the Lead Pharmacist for the Unscheduled Care.
As an experienced and competent clinical pharmacist, you will lead the Clinical Pharmacy service and provide assurance to the Emergency Department and Admissions Units at Basingstoke & North Hampshire Hospital.

Main duties of the job
- Advanced Lead Clinical Pharmacist - working as a non-medical prescriber in the speciality. Role includes teaching, training, audit and research.
- Day to day clinical management of the patients with regard to medicines optimisation, monitoring key quality/performance indicators and recommending/implementing actions to address them. Ensuring necessary/appropriate medications are available for assessment and treatment needs of the speciality. Reporting on workforce requirements for meeting service demand.
- To lead, develop, deliver and evaluate the clinical pharmacy service to ED and acute medical units.
- To participate in a departmental working group to scope, plan and implement an electronic Prescribing and Administration System within the ED.
- To ensure the effective line management and development of staff, including ensuring that staff members have an annual appraisal and development review.
- Support the ED and acute medical units, liaising with the multidisciplinary team and lead clinician as well as the pharmacy team.
- Support the Business Unit through regular monthly reports and face to face interaction.
- Pharmacist will regularly attend and represent the ED at MERG, attend monthly departmental governance meetings and weekly senior team meetings.
