Job overview

We are looking for a passionate, innovative and enthusiastic Perinatal Pelvic Health  Physiotherapist to undertake a new project improving pelvic health during the child bearing continuum for a period of 12 Months.

The purpose of this role is to lead and support the local implementation of a perinatal pelvic health service (PPHS) designed in collaboration with SHIP Local Maternity and Neonatal system (LMNS) and NHS England. A minimum of 0.1wte hours per week will be dedicated to the PPHS project, with a specific focus on the education and training programme. This in line with the NHS Long Term plan commitment to improve access to postnatal physiotherapy services for women. The local ambition which is that ALL women are to have education and advice around pelvic health and access to Physiotherapy services.

Main duties of the job

  • To provide highly specialist physiotherapy intervention to patients in the perinatal pelvic health service, as part of the specialist team, assessing and treating own caseload of patients who may have a complex presentation and maintain associated records as an autonomous practitioner. 
  • As a clinical specialist physiotherapist, to take on specified management tasks in supporting the implementation of the SHIP LMNS Perinatal Pelvic Health Service (PPHS).
  • To take a lead role and collaboration in the supervision and teaching of qualified and recently qualified physiotherapists, students, therapy assistants and multi-disciplinary team staff.
  • Working within the multi-disciplinary team to provide the specialist physiotherapy 
  • Deputises for senior staff in their absence as required.
  • Undertakes evidence-based projects, including recommendations for change in practice and participate in departmental and LMNS PPHS research and audit

Education and Training

Essential criteria
  • • Professional UK registration e.g. HCPC
  • • Postgraduate training or development in clinical skills in Women's Health to qualify for POGP membership (PG Cert in continence or women's health or both preferred)
  • • Evidence or portfolio of postgraduate continued development • Membership of specialist interest group
Desirable criteria
  • • Specific post graduate course eg prescribing course
  • • Certificate/ CPD in Management and Leadership, or equivalent
  • Leadership or management qualification

Experience

Essential criteria
  • • Evidence of Continued Professional Development (CPD) clearly recorded for professional profile.
  • • Evidence of significant post registration clinical work and experience in women's health, and pelvic rehabilitation to masters level.
  • Experience of undertaking audits or research within practice
  • • Experience of staff supervision and mentorship
Desirable criteria
  • • Experience of project management for policy development or large scale projects.
  • Experience with multi-lingual backgrounds
  • • Understanding of Health Environment policies and legislation including Clinical, HR, E&D, Governance

  • • Highly specialised clinical skills across the relevant speciality.
