Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Data Management Services department for a Data Warehouse Architect.  This role would be suitable for a senior SQL data warehouse developer who is looking to further progress their career or, existing technical architects with great team leadership skills wanting to work with data at a very large scale, in order to help improve outcomes for patients and support the wider NHS.

Main duties of the job

The role requires that the post holder technically lead and manage the delivery of large scale BI projects ensuring value for money and customer satisfaction. This will be achieved by leading the data warehouse team and by using and understanding advanced data warehousing techniques.

The post holder will be a strong team leader and communicator able to guide their team to become even more advanced and skilled. They will also use their technical expertise to improve standards of development across the CSU.

  • Educated to masters level or equivalent level of experience of working at a senior level in specialist area

Knowledge & Experience

Essential criteria
  • Extensive knowledge of Data warehousing and Business Intelligence , acquired through post graduate diploma or equivalent experience or training plus further specialist knowledge or experience to master’s level equivalent.
  • Evidence of post qualifying and continuing professional development.
  • Must have an understanding of the background to and aims of current healthcare policy and appreciate the implications of this on engagement.
  • Should have an appreciation of the relationship between NHS England, the HSCIC, CCG and GP practices.

  • Negotiate on difficult and controversial issues including performance and change.
  • ETL design and development within Microsoft technologies
  • OLAP structures.

  • Experience of identifying and interpreting National policy. Experience of researching best practice (globally, private and public sector), interpreting its relevance and processes/ practices which could be implemented successfully to achieve system reform (advising on policy implementation).
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office with intermediate keyboard skills
