Main duties of the job

Are you passionate about driving quality and excellence in healthcare diagnostics? We are recruiting a CDC IQIPS Accreditation Manager to lead and coordinate accreditation activities for Physiological Sciences across the University Hospital Southampton (UHS) and Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare (HIOWH) diagnostic centres.

This pivotal role will ensure our Community Diagnostic Centres (CDCs) meet the highest standards of care through the Improving Quality in Physiological Services (IQIPS) accreditation process. You will work closely with clinical teams, governance leads, and service managers to embed quality, safety, and continuous improvement across respiratory and cardiology services.

Your work will directly impact patient outcomes, service reliability, and organisational performance, supporting the our strategic goals and ensuring compliance with national standards.

You will collaborate with a counterpart in HIOWH responsible for radiology accreditation and benefit from structured support, including training and access to the South East CDC Accreditation Peer Support Group.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

As CDC IQIPS Accreditation Manager, you will:

· Lead the IQIPS accreditation process across UHS and HIOWH physiology services, including respiratory and cardiology.

· Coordinate evidence collection, audits, and governance activities to meet UKAS accreditation standards.

· Develop and implement policies, procedures, and protocols in collaboration with clinical and operational teams.

· Facilitate site visits, including RSH, SGH, Lymington, Romsey, and Hythe, ensuring readiness and compliance.

· Support clinical governance meetings, incident reviews, and patient feedback analysis to drive service improvement.

· Provide training and mentorship to staff involved in accreditation activities.

· Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to resolve barriers and promote a culture of continuous quality improvement.

What We’re Looking For:

· A degree in Clinical Physiology (BSc/MSc) or equivalent.

· Awareness of IQIPS standards and experience in service improvement and clinical audit.

· Strong communication and organisational skills, with the ability to lead across multiple sites and teams.

· Experience in developing SOPs and departmental protocols.

· Ability to work independently and collaboratively, managing timelines and priorities effectively.

Additional Requirements:

· Ability to travel between sites (RSH, SGH, Lymington, Romsey, Hythe) and work remotely as needed.

Qualifications / Training Required

Essential criteria
  • BSc / MSc Clinical Physiology or equivalent plus management qualification/ experience
  • Evidence of continuing professional development supporting the role of IQIPS lead
Desirable criteria
  • IQIPS assessor trained
  • Experience/ knowledge of Quality Management Systems

Previous or Relevant Experience Necessary

Essential criteria
  • Detailed knowledge of the IQIPS standards V2.1 2023
  • Awareness and understanding of the requirements of IQIPS accreditation
  • High level knowledge of a wide range of tests and techniques performed by Clinical Physiologists
  • Previous experience of creating SOPs and departmental protocols
  • Service Improvement experience
  • Experience of quality and leadership
Desirable criteria
  • Able to coach/share quality improvement tools with departments to facilitate IQIPS accreditation
  • Experience of clinical audit
  • Knowledge and interaction with internal/external departments to facilitate/validate evidence collection for IQIPS
