Main duties of the job

This appointment is for a Locum Consultant Medical Oncologist with an interest in Lung Cancers for a period of 12 months to cover a maternity leave. This is split 2 days at Salisbury District Hospital (SDH) and 2 days a week at University Hospital Southampton (UHS).

You will join the Medical Oncology consultant team, specifically:

•    To provide specialist Medical Oncology input with expertise in Chemotherapy and Immunotherapy for these groups of patients.
•    To treat patients with Lung cancers at UHS and SDH 
•    To provide support to the Respiratory team for inpatient admissions with Lung Cancer
•    To provide oncology input to the UHS/SDH lung MDTs.

The post is available as a part time 9 PA post.

You must hold Full registration (with a licence to practise) with the General Medical Council (GMC) or be eligible for registration within six months of interview.

  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
  • GMC registration with a licence to practise
  • Appropriate knowledge base, and ability to apply sound clinical judgement to problems
